Two Breakfast Smoothie Recipes

Intermittent Fasting Breakfast Smoothies for Weight Loss

Can you drink smoothies when intermittent fasting? Sure! As long as you are in your "feasting" window, then smoothies are a great option for weight loss (when replacing a high carb meal instead, for instance).

Feasting Window

My feasting window is from 11 am to 7 pm because that fits my life and my schedule. I have two smoothies I alternate between these days. I usually break my fast with one of these two recipes or with avocado toast. Also, "feasting window" is a term used by IFers. I do not like the word "feasting" because it makes me think of overeating.

My energy is higher lately and I'm getting more stuff done. Woohoo! Intermittent Fasting, shooting for 100 Walks, and using Noom are part of the keys to successfully losing 9 pounds since July 1.

What I Use to Make Smoothies:

Smoothie #1

Fruit Smoothie Breakfast Smoothie Ingredients:

  • 2 scoops protein powder

  • 16 oz. unsweetened almond milk

  • about 1 cup of fruit (mango, banana, pineapple, blueberries)

In my Ninja, I blend all the ingredients. About one cup of fruit (frozen or fresh - the Ninja can handle frozen fruit) plus the almond milk and protein powder. I like mango with a combination of either one banana, a cup of blueberries or a cup of pineapples.

Smoothie #2

Nut Butter Smoothie Breakfast Smoothie Ingredients:

  • 2 scoops protein powder

  • 16 oz. unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 banana

  • 1 tablespoon nut butter

Protein Powder

Right now, the hubster and I are working our way through this beast of protein powder (Naked Whey 5 pounds). He mixes it with a Carnation Instant Breakfast but he has it at 5:30 am. Too early to run the blender in our house and it doesn't mix as well as ones we've tried in the past.

It doesn't blend well in a glass with a spoon, and it gets a little fluffy in the blender. But we are in it to win it at this point with this monster container. The Sweet Pea Chef, Lacey Baier, recommended it and she's been spot on with her advice. It has minimal ingredients and coconut sugar as the sweetener.

I've tried this Orgain's Vanilla in the past and liked it better.... but it has more ingredients. It comes down to preference. I will probably buy this one next round because it blends better for my hubs in the mornings.
