About 3 months into my journey to minimalism, I began to accept the guilt I had from spending money needlessly. I forgave myself.
Then, I faced the debt I built from overspending. A downward cycle of paying for one thing and not saving for another, led me to use the credit card. Each time, I told myself I would pay the card off the next month. That didn't happen. Two years of spending this way amounted to nearly $61,000 in credit card debt and consumer loans.
Part of facing the debt included sharing the struggle on my YouTube channel. I wanted people like me to know that they were not alone in the struggle.
